Built in 1899 St. Matthew's has been recently reordered to provide a modern and welcoming worship environment for all. The reordered church has soft seating, large carpeted areas, multi-channel sound system, computerised video projection system, a stage, efficient modern heating, good modern lighting and a refreshments area. Our modern style of worship includes a mixture of worship band and organ music, and occasional productions by our drama group. Our congregation is multi-national, and covers all age groups, so families, and small children are always welcome. Our preschool, which has an excellent reputation and excellent Ofsted reports, is open 5 mornings and at least 2 afternoons per week.  We also have the Smalls project, with a large baby-and-toddler group called TOTS; an activity morning based on a Bible story and Little Fish; an activity for children under 5 and their parents or carers. During the week St Matthew's also runs evening clubs catering for young people aged five to sixteen lead by Ravi our Youth Worker. Alongside the church building is a large multi-purpose self contained hall with kitchen and toilets. The grounds of the church and hall comprise of walled gardens, grassed areas and a car park. The church, church hall, and car park are equipped to enable people with disabilities to gain access and enjoy the facilities. A dramatic mural on the wall of the car park depicting Isaiah 11 has become a local landmark. St. Matthew's is located in a residential area on the corner of Shakespeare Road, and Tarring Road about 2 miles from Worthing town centre.
